My suggestion would be to give as much info as you can, be it about the story (especially warnings and/or potential squicks) and/or what you're especially looking for in a beta (just grammar, maybe characterization or continuity or fact check...)

or

what your strengths are as a beta (grammar, characterization, plot, etc) and/or what you're not willing/able to beta, etc.

Feel free to leave a comment to someone's cry (or offer) for help, or PM each other. Feel free to leave your email addy if you don't mind sharing it in such a public forum.

Hi, I can beta one fic that is up to **about** 5000 words.
I can offer you assistance with everything from content to grammar but I ask you to at least punctuate and do a spell-check first. I'll do the proofing in Word, using highlights and comments within the document, as I'm not practiced at the 'track changes'feature/tool.

Looking forward to working with someone and I'll probably ask you to reciprocate at some point, and beta one of my short stories.

I can offer assistance with everything from content to grammar but I too ask you to at punctuate and spell-check first. I'll do the proofing in Word or I will use GDocs, using the track changes tool in whichever software you prefer.

It is my preference, however, to beta longer fics in chapters, if possible.

hi there. my story is about 3,500 words. I've spell-checked it as best I can, having read through it a bunch of times. I'm not that fantastic at grammar or punctuation. I tend to have a hard time sticking to a tense. so, I would really appreciate some help if you're available. :)
